Prestigious Gem Awards 2024 Celebrate Icons in Jewelry Industry

Last week, in the vibrant heart of New York, the Jewelers of America (JA) dazzled attendees as they unveiled the esteemed recipients of the 22nd annual Gem Awards. Among the illustrious winners were Susan Jacques, CEO of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), the multi-talented Cynthia Erivo, and the renowned Tiffany & Co.

Susan Jacques, esteemed leader with a decade at the helm of GIA and two decades as CEO of Borsheims, was honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, a testament to her enduring influence in the jewelry realm.

Cynthia Erivo, celebrated for her accomplishments in acting and music, claimed the Jewelry Style Award, adding another gem to her collection of Emmy, Grammy, Tony awards, and Oscar nominations.

Tiffany & Co. was bestowed with a Special Recognition accolade for the remarkable transformation of its flagship store in New York, now hailed as The Landmark, a symbol of timeless elegance and innovation.

During the captivating black-tie gala, New York-based designer Marla Aaron was crowned with the Gem Award for Jewelry Design, standing out among nominees Marie Lichtenberg and Jean Prounis.

Recognizing excellence in media, freelance writer and editor Tanya Dukes triumphed with the Media Excellence Award, outshining fellow nominees Milena Lazazzera Martins Alexandre of British Vogue and Alexis Wolfe of Elle.

The Gem Awards not only celebrated the brilliance and creativity within the jewelry industry but also honored those whose contributions continue to shape its glittering landscape.
