Bridgerton’s Regency-Era Glamour: Jewellery That Shines Through

Netflix’s original series “Bridgerton” has enchanted viewers with its charming characters, engaging dialogue, intricate plotlines, stunning costumes, and elaborate jewellery. The first episode of season one, “Diamond of the First Water,” cleverly references both the brilliance of a gemstone and Daphne’s social triumph as the season’s “diamond,” declared “flawless” by Queen Charlotte.

As fans eagerly anticipate the second part of season three, set to release on June 13, thoughts turn to recreating the Regency-era looks with Bridgerton-inspired jewellery for upcoming soirées. The series owes much of its visual appeal to the dedicated costume designers—Ellen Mirojnick, Sophie Canale, and John Glaser for seasons one, two, and three, respectively—and the talented jewellery designers who handcrafted each piece for various looks featured in the show.

Throughout the three seasons and in “Queen Charlotte,” part of the extended Bridgerton universe, the ladies are adorned in elaborate gowns and corsetry. Their busy social calendars of balls and promenades required exquisite Regency-era jewellery. Viewers can admire the delicate diamond pieces worn by Daphne (played by Phoebe Dynevor), the viscountess’s Indian-inspired jewellery, and Queen Charlotte’s (played by Golda Rosheuvel) statement necklaces and iconic wigs.

Bridgerton’s meticulous attention to detail in costume and jewellery design is a significant reason for its enduring popularity since its premiere in 2020. With a dedicated department for jewellery, each handcrafted piece contributes to the show’s authentic Regency-era glamour, captivating audiences season after season.
