Two emerald and diamond jewels significantly exceeded their presale estimates at a recent Sotheby’s auction.
A Tiffany & Co. oval cabochon Colombian emerald and diamond ring sold for $240,000, twice its high estimate of $120,000. Similarly, a necklace designed by Giovane, featuring 12 emerald-cut Colombian emeralds and marquise-shaped and round diamonds, fetched $240,000, surpassing its $150,000 estimate. The online Fine Jewels auction, held in New York from May 30 to June 10, brought in $8.9 million, with many items outperforming their presale estimates.
An emerald-cut, 7.17-carat, G-color, VVS2-clarity diamond ring sold for $216,000, exceeding its $200,000 estimate. Another highlight was a pear brilliant-cut, 7.43-carat, F-color, SI1-clarity diamond ring, which sold for $168,000, well above its $100,000 estimate.
A pair of earrings, each featuring modified octagonal step-cut, 3-carat Colombian emeralds surrounded by diamonds, achieved $156,000, more than double their $60,000 estimate. Additionally, three diamond necklaces, including one with black stones, sold for $156,000, also exceeding their top estimate of $60,000.
