An 8-carat diamond ring topped the recent jewelry auction at Sotheby’s in New York, selling for $336,000. The cushion-cut, D-color, internally flawless diamond fell within the high end of its presale estimate, which ranged from $250,000 to $350,000. The Important Jewels sale took place from September 6 to 20 and totaled $4.8 million, according to Sotheby’s.
In addition, an unmounted emerald-cut Colombian emerald weighing 18.91 carats also sold for $288,000. A pair of Van Cleef & Arpels ear clips, featuring marquise-shaped, round, and baguette diamonds with detachable drops set with mystery-set rubies, achieved the same price. Both items met their presale estimates.
Other significant sales included a ring featuring a 10.59-carat, H-color, VVS2-clarity diamond, which sold for $240,000, in line with its estimated value. A heart-shaped diamond ring, weighing 16.24 carats and rated fancy-yellow with VS1 clarity, fetched $180,000, reaching its upper estimate. Additionally, a round diamond ring with a weight of 6.04 carats, E-color, and VS2 clarity sold for $156,000, exceeding its estimate of $100,000 to $150,000.
