De Beers Group recently invited media representatives from Mainland China and Hong Kong, along with executives from Chow Tai Fook and top influencers, to its London headquarters for a special two-day workshop and cultural tour. The event aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge of natural diamonds by combining hands-on learning with an exploration of diamond heritage and craftsmanship.
One of the highlights of the workshop was a practical session led by experts from the De Beers Institute of Diamonds. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about the 4Cs of diamonds—color, cut, carat weight, and clarity. They handled rough diamonds, examined polished stones under different lighting, and saw the effectiveness of DiamondProof, De Beers’ latest tool for detecting lab-grown diamonds. Jodine Bolden, Director of Education, explained, “Diamonds are not only valuable gems but also carry a deep cultural and historical meaning. This workshop aimed to show the professional expertise that makes natural diamonds stand out.”
The experience went beyond De Beers’ headquarters. Participants also toured some of London’s most iconic diamond locations. They visited De Beers’ flagship store on Bond Street, where they could admire and try on luxurious diamond jewelry that blends traditional craftsmanship with modern design. A stop at the Tower of London to view the Crown Jewels added a historical perspective, connecting the participants with the rich legacy of diamonds in British history.
Through this immersive event, De Beers emphasized its commitment to promoting natural diamonds on a global scale. By combining innovation, ethical sourcing, and cultural education, the company showcased the diverse appeal of diamonds as both natural wonders and symbols of lasting beauty. Looking ahead, De Beers remains dedicated to ensuring the continued relevance of natural diamonds through ongoing advancements in technology, sustainability, and cultural engagement.
