Christie’s is set to auction a rare blue-diamond ring at its upcoming New York jewelry sale, with an estimated value between $6 million and $8 million.
The 5.72-carat cushion brilliant-cut diamond is fancy-intense blue in color and VVS1 clarity, potentially being internally flawless, according to Christie’s. The piece will headline the December 10 Magnificent Jewels sale.
Additionally, the auction will feature the largest collection of Suzanne Belperron jewelry ever offered. The 15-piece collection includes three items from Belperron’s personal collection, as well as a bracelet once owned by Diana Vreeland, the legendary editor of Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue.
“This extraordinary collection highlights the art of jewelry collecting, curated by an American collector with a refined eye for jewels as true works of art,” said Claibourne Poindexter, senior jewelry specialist at Christie’s. “With thoughtful intent, this collection showcases iconic designs from various eras, including one of the most impressive groups of Suzanne Belperron jewels ever to be auctioned.”
