On December 13, Phillips will host its highly anticipated New York Jewels auction at the auction house’s Manhattan headquarters. The sale, featuring 146 lots, will offer a range of exquisite jewels, including antique-cut diamonds, rare colored gemstones, and signed pieces from renowned designers.
Cristina Rodrigo, jewels specialist and head of sale at Phillips New York, expressed excitement about the growing popularity of antique-cut diamonds. “We’re particularly excited to present several examples of antique-cut diamonds, which are enjoying a surge in popularity right now,” Rodrigo said. “Our top lot, an impressive fancy yellow diamond ring with an old European brilliant-cut diamond weighing more than 43 carats, is a striking example.”
The standout item of the auction is a 43.15-carat yellow diamond ring, set in 18k white gold. This dazzling piece, featuring an old European brilliant-cut fancy yellow diamond surrounded by brilliant-cut diamonds, carries an estimated presale value of $550,000 to $850,000.
In addition to the yellow diamond ring, the auction will also feature a variety of other high-end jewels. Notable pieces include a 1950s-era René Boivin demi-parure, consisting of an aquamarine necklace and matching earrings. Crafted in 18k gold, the set is composed of step-cut, baguette, and round aquamarines, with the necklace offering a detachable brooch that can be converted into a bracelet. This set is expected to fetch between $130,000 and $180,000.
Rodrigo highlighted the diversity and prestige of the auction’s offerings, which will include works by renowned jewelers such as Suzanne Belperron and Jean Schlumberger. “We are thrilled to present exceptional pieces from important makers such as René Boivin, Suzanne Belperron, and Jean Schlumberger alongside stunning offerings in the colored gemstones and diamond categories,” she added.
The Phillips New York Jewels auction promises to be a must-see event for collectors and enthusiasts of fine jewelry.
