The tradition of wearing flowers as adornments feels as timeless as nature itself. From children crafting daisy chains to brides donning fragrant orange blossom wreaths—symbols of purity and fertility—floral motifs have always held a special place in human culture. This enduring fascination has also captivated jewellers, who have sought to capture the vibrant colors and delicate beauty of the botanical world in their creations.
Van Cleef & Arpels, a renowned maison based in Paris’s Place Vendôme, has drawn inspiration from nature since its founding in the early 20th century. Its iconic floral brooches once graced the attire of Parisian high society. The brand’s latest creation, the Pâquerette ring, reimagines the humble daisy with gold-beaded mother-of-pearl petals and a striking agate center stone. Meanwhile, Harry Winston, known as the “King of Diamonds,” has crafted a dazzling Cluster necklace featuring 619 diamonds, designed to mimic the unfolding petals of a lily. Swiss jeweller Piaget has also embraced the floral theme with a whimsical brooch. Its diamond-studded petals and vibrant leaves, made from spessartite, beryl, and tourmaline, resemble a bouquet of blooming roses—a tribute to chairman Yves Piaget’s passion for the flower.
Boucheron, another iconic name in jewellery, has long been inspired by ivy. Founder Frédéric Boucheron first noticed the wild ivy growing near his Palais Royal boutique in 1858, and it has since become a signature motif. Creative director Claire Choisne honors this legacy with a necklace featuring delicate white-gold leaves and over 1,000 diamonds, designed to resemble ivy tendrils gracefully wrapping around the wearer’s neck. Graff, too, celebrates the allure of wildflowers with a bangle that showcases diamond florets. The central diamond is set in a way that makes it appear to float, adding a touch of magic to the design.
While real flowers may wither and fade, these exquisite botanical jewels are crafted to sparkle forever, preserving the beauty of nature in timeless form.
