London — De Beers Jewellers has unveiled the first part of its new couture high jewelry collection, “Essence of Nature.” The collection, inspired by the beauty and symbolism of trees, reflects the natural surroundings of the company’s diamond mines.
The pieces feature rough and polished green, yellow, and white diamonds, set in 18-karat white and yellow gold. De Beers aims to capture the majesty and mystery of ancient woodlands, with designs that evoke tree roots deep within the Earth and canopies stretching toward the sky.
“The first chapter of ‘Essence of Nature’ celebrates our roots, both literally and figuratively,” said Céline Assimon, CEO of De Beers Jewellers. “Tree roots are the hidden foundations of timeless beauty. Similarly, diamonds are ancient marvels, born millions of years ago beneath the Earth.”
The collection’s first sub-collection, “Embrace,” is an abstract tribute to tree roots. It features rough green diamonds to represent foliage, paired with polished white diamonds resembling dewdrops. This sub-collection also marks the debut of jet, a type of brown coal formed from fossilized wood, used for the first time in the necklace, bracelet, ring, and earrings.
The second sub-collection, “Interlace,” explores tree roots in a more figurative way. Fluid, asymmetrical designs with curving diamond-set roots are highlighted by both rough and polished yellow diamonds. This set symbolizes the importance of roots as the foundation for future beauty.
The final sub-collection, “Foundation,” honors the strength of trees. Earrings represent tree trunks, a jacket ring mirrors a forest canopy, and a necklace featuring a 3.02-carat fancy deep grayish yellowish green diamond symbolizes growth and renewal.
The “Essence of Nature, Chapter One” collection launched on January 27, featuring 13 pieces. It is available for viewing on De Beers Jewellers’ website, with “Chapter Two” set to debut in July during Couture Week in Paris.
