Young Thug has achieved a significant legal win as a Georgia judge has ruled that the state must return jewelry seized from him during his May 2022 arrest, which was part of the ongoing YSL racketeering case.
According to a report from The Jasmine Brand on February 26, the items set to be returned include a Rolex Datejust engraved with “King Slime,” a diamond cross pendant, a necklace with green jewels, a diamond tennis necklace, and two diamond stud earrings. However, these items will not be returned directly to Young Thug but will instead be given back to the jeweler, Rafaello & Company.
This ruling comes after a hearing on the matter was canceled. Young Thug and his legal team have been seeking the return of not only jewelry but also $149,426 in cash, firearms, and several vehicles. While the jewelry is set to be returned, there have been no updates on the status of the money, guns, or cars. Among the vehicles seized are a 2021 Dodge Durango, a 2022 Porsche 911, a 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLS Maybach, a 2015 Can-Am Spyder, and a 2022 Chevrolet Corvette.
In related news, Young Thug has announced his first live performance since his release from jail. He is set to headline the Les Ardentes festival in Belgium on July 5, marking his first public appearance since his 2022 arrest. While the announcement has been made, Thug has not yet commented on it and does not have any U.S. performances scheduled, despite being required by his plea deal to perform four charity shows per year.
One reason for Thug’s silence may be his ongoing legal battle with music giant AEG (Anschutz Entertainment Group). AEG claims that Thug signed a deal with them in 2017, receiving a $5.25 million loan in exchange for relinquishing rights to his publishing. The company argues that Thug’s failure to repay the loan led to AEG obtaining the rights to promote his live shows.
In 2022, AEG filed a lawsuit against Young Thug for nearly $6 million, accusing him of breaching the contract by booking shows on the side and pocketing performance fees despite the company’s control over his concert promotions.
Young Thug has yet to respond to the lawsuit, and it remains unclear how the ongoing legal issues will impact his upcoming festival appearance in Belgium or future performances.
