Kim Kardashian, the US reality TV star, is set to testify in person at a French trial concerning the 2016 armed robbery in which millions of dollars worth of her jewelry were stolen.
Her lawyer confirmed that Kardashian will appear in court on May 13, as the trial runs from April 28 to May 23.
Six individuals are standing trial for the October 2016 heist, in which masked men broke into Kardashian’s Paris apartment during Fashion Week.
The robbery, one of the largest in France in the past two decades, involved the theft of jewelry worth about six million euros. Among the stolen items was a diamond ring that had belonged to her then-husband, Kanye West.
Aomar Ait Khedache, also known as “Old Omar,” is thought to be the leader of the gang behind the robbery.
The suspects, arrested months after the crime, face charges including armed robbery, kidnapping, and membership in a criminal gang.
The robbery took place in the early hours of October 3, 2016, when several men, some disguised as police officers, entered the luxury apartment where Kardashian was staying. They held her at gunpoint, tied her up, and gagged her before stealing the jewelry.
The stolen items included the diamond ring and several other gold and diamond pieces. Although some items were lost during the escape, including a diamond-encrusted cross, most of the stolen jewelry has not been recovered and is believed to have been sold in Belgium.
