Turkey’s jewelry exports have experienced a remarkable growth of 72.1% in the first quarter of 2025, reaching $2.5 billion, according to data from the Türkiye Exporters’ Assembly (TIM).
The country’s overall exports rose by 2.5% during January to March, totaling $65.3 billion. Jewelry accounted for 3.9% of this figure, as reported by state-owned Anadolu Agency.
Breakdown of Jewelry Exports
Of the $2.5 billion in jewelry exports, gold jewelry products made up the largest share at $2.1 billion. Other significant categories included $347.3 million in unprocessed or semi-processed gold, $90.4 million in silver jewelry products, and $31.7 million in unprocessed or semi-processed silver.
Additional exports included $22.8 million in precious metals or precious-metal-plated metals, $1.9 million in cultured pearls and precious stones, and $3.2 million in watches and watch parts coated with precious metals. Other exports included imitation jewelry valued at $3.9 million, $2.7 million in unprocessed or semi-processed precious metals, and $810,700 in other precious-metal products.
UAE Leads as Top Importer of Turkish Jewelry
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) was the top importer of Turkish jewelry, with imports totaling $1.2 billion. The United States followed with $199.5 million, Switzerland with $181.5 million, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region with $128 million, Mexico with $92.6 million, Kyrgyzstan with $88 million, and Libya with $78.6 million.
Turkey’s jewelry exports to the UAE saw a significant increase of $838.4 million. Exports also grew notably to Switzerland ($157.1 million), Kyrgyzstan ($46.3 million), the U.S. ($37.5 million), and Libya ($35.5 million) during the first quarter.
Istanbul Remains the Heart of Turkey’s Jewelry Exports
Istanbul was the leading city for jewelry exports, accounting for $1.9 billion of the total. Other regions contributing to exports included Corum in northern Anatolia, with $646.1 million, Trabzon on the Black Sea coast with $30.5 million, and Kastamonu in northern Turkey with $16.4 million. Ankara, Turkey’s capital, contributed $5.6 million, while Sakarya in the northwest saw $3 million in jewelry exports.
