Copenhagen-based accessories brand Lié Studio is launching a new capsule collection of jewelry, created exclusively for luxury fashion retailer Moda Operandi.
Founded by twin sisters and models Amalie and Cecilie Moosgaard, the Danish label is centering this limited-edition line around a deeply personal inspiration — a pair of vintage button earrings once owned by their grandmother. The siblings discovered the earrings in her sewing kit, placed among actual buttons.
“It became more than just an earring,” Amalie said. “It became a design code that ties the entire collection together.”
The earrings, called Coco, pay homage to Coco Chanel, who was known for wearing similar styles. However, unlike Chanel’s famous use of pearls, the Moosgaards chose black onyx for a more modern, minimalist look. From this design, the collection expands into other pieces, including a pendant choker, drop earrings, a bracelet, and band rings — all echoing the earrings’ signature oval shape.
Amalie described the collection as “a balance between two contrasting materials.” The jewelry features silver- and gold-plated ridged frames, which were inspired by a vintage Cartier watch Cecilie found in Japan. The black onyx, she added, “gives a sleek and elegant finish, which we found to be a perfect fit for Moda Operandi.”
Prices for the pieces range from $180 to $415. The collection will be available starting Thursday on Moda Operandi’s website, as well as at Lié Studio’s official website and its boutique in Copenhagen.
Lié Studio, established in 2021, originally focused on contemporary jewelry but has since expanded its offerings to include bags and belts. The brand now has 130 stockists around the world. Moda Operandi was one of its earliest partners, having introduced the brand through its trunk show program in the U.S., which remains Lié Studio’s largest market.
“We’ve always had such a great relationship with Moda and their team,” said Cecilie. “They’ve given us valuable feedback that’s helped us grow.”
Ryan Kleman, director of buying and accessories at Moda Operandi, noted that the new capsule coincides with the two-year anniversary of their collaboration.
“Lié Studio’s products instantly resonated with the Moda customer,” he said. “They’re bold but refined, with a timeless attitude.”
