Louis Vuitton, the iconic French fashion house, has introduced an exclusive men’s jewelry line inspired by Gaston-Louis Vuitton, the grandson of the brand’s founder. Gaston-Louis, known for his role in steering the label for over 50 years, is celebrated in an 18-piece collection that reflects his diverse personality traits and encapsulates the multifaceted essence of the contemporary man.
Titled “Les Gastons Vuitton,” a fusion of Gaston’s first name and the French term for “the boys,” the collection transcends traditional gender norms. While it’s categorized as a men’s line, the pieces are designed to be worn by individuals of any gender. Francesca Amfitheatrof, Louis Vuitton’s Artistic Director for Watches and Jewelry, likens the collection to denim jeans, emphasizing that it’s more about attitude than adhering to gender conventions.
The collection features a new dark-blue titanium, reminiscent of raw denim and classic navy hues, developed exclusively for this line. The color takes center stage in “The Creators” chapter, showcased in a puzzle ring that pays homage to Gaston’s inventive spirit and talent for crafting intriguing objects. “The Collectors” chapter includes tag necklaces, signet rings, and other essential male jewelry pieces, while “The Curious” chapter draws inspiration from the brand’s iconic trunks, incorporating miniature versions into bracelets, studs, and necklaces. Gaston’s extensive trunk collection, a hallmark of his lifetime, played a crucial role in shaping the brand’s extensive archive.
Francesca Amfitheatrof envisions exploring more of Gaston’s whimsical creations in future jewelry designs, including the playful toys he designed and built. She expressed her enthusiasm for transforming these playful objects into unique and imaginative jewelry pieces.
“Les Gastons Vuitton” is now available at select Louis Vuitton boutiques worldwide and online. The price range varies, starting at around $2,000 for a single Trunk diamond stud and reaching approximately $158,500 for the Masterpiece Gourmet necklace, adorned with over 13 carats of white diamonds. This collection not only pays homage to the legacy of Gaston-Louis Vuitton but also represents a bold step towards redefining gender-neutral luxury in the realm of high-end jewelry.
