by Madonna

A stunning 41.02-carat fancy intense yellow diamond has been sold for $1.02 million at a recent Sotheby’s auction in New York. The exquisite gem, with its natural color and VS2 clarity, was part of the “From the Vault Exceptional Signed Jewels” collection, which took place on March 7th. The diamond had been estimated to sell for $800,000 to $1.2 million.

While the sale saw a total of $8.4 million, nearly half of the lots remained unsold. Among the notable pieces sold was a Van Cleef & Arpels gold and diamond zipper necklace-bracelet combination, along with a pair of ear clips from around 1950, which fetched $482,600 against an estimate of $400,000 to $600,000.

However, one of the highlights of the auction, an Asprey fancy vivid yellow diamond and diamond necklace with matching earrings, estimated at $2 million to $3 million, was withdrawn from the sale.

The auction featured a total of 81 pieces by Van Cleef & Arpels, 43 pieces by Cartier, and 21 pieces each by David Webb and Bulgari. The collection’s owner has chosen to remain anonymous.
