A Tanzanite sculpture weighing 703.4 carats, acknowledged as the largest cut Tanzanite in the world, has been officially registered by Guinness World Records. Crafted by Naomi Sarna, an artist based in New York, the sculpture, named L’Heure Bleu, is elegantly mounted on a twisted sterling silver base.
Proceeds generated from the sale of this remarkable carving will be directed towards supporting the Casey Eye Institute’s initiatives, aimed at providing essential eye care services to the Maasai community in Tanzania.
Tanzanite, renowned for its rarity, holds a distinguished place among gemstones, surpassing diamonds in scarcity. Introduced to the market by Tiffany & Co in 1968, the stone boasts hues ranging from green and red to purple and blue, with its scientific classification being blue-violet zoisite.
Located solely within a narrow expanse near the Mererani Hills, nestled in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzanite remains exclusive to a mere four-mile strip in Tanzania.
