A “Toi et Moi” ring featuring blue and pink diamonds, each over 5.0 carats, sold for $3.7 million (£3 million) at Bonhams London, nearly doubling its high estimate.
The ring was crafted and signed by Mouawad, a Geneva-based jeweler known for serving royalty and high society since its founding in 1890. The ring had a pre-sale estimate of $1.3 million to $1.9 million (£1 million to £1.5 million).
The ring features a 5.03-carat radiant-cut fancy intense blue diamond set next to a 5.13-carat radiant-cut fancy purple-pink diamond. The gallery and shoulders are adorned with brilliant-cut diamonds in pink and blue tints.
The auction, held on June 13, included 113 lots and achieved a total of £6,590,562, with 78 percent of the lots sold and 99 percent of the value sold.
