Anglo American plc announced that the rough diamond sales for De Beers’ fifth sales cycle of 2024 amounted to $315 million.
This provisional sales figure represents the expected value for the period and may be adjusted after final sales are completed.
Al Cook, CEO of De Beers, noted that the northern summer is usually a quieter time for rough diamond sales, which was reflected in Cycle 5. He mentioned that the recent JCK jewelry show in Las Vegas showed a renewed interest in natural diamonds among U.S. retailers. However, he also pointed out that ongoing economic challenges in China suggest a slow U-shaped recovery in demand.
