A group of around 20 individuals allegedly robbed PNG Jewelers in Sunnyvale, California, on June 12. The suspects used hammers and other tools to break display cases and steal merchandise, according to the Jewelers Security Alliance (JSA).
After the robbery, the suspects fled in multiple vehicles, leading to a police chase. During the pursuit, some suspects threw stolen jewelry out of one vehicle. Authorities managed to arrest five suspects after they abandoned the car and attempted to escape on foot. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident, Sunnyvale police reported.
Police have recovered some of the stolen jewelry, but the total value of the items taken is still unknown.
Last month, a similar robbery occurred at another jewelry store in Sunnyvale. Authorities are investigating whether there is a connection between the two incidents.
