Diamonds Do Good (DDG) has awarded $100,000 in grants to 13 entrepreneurs from six diamond-producing countries in Africa and India. This funding is part of DDG’s third annual Entrepreneurship Grant program.
The grants, ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 each, are designed to help these entrepreneurs grow their businesses and enhance their social impact. The announcement of the grants was made during a live Zoom ceremony.
This year’s grant recipients come from Botswana, India, Lesotho, Namibia, Sierra Leone, and Tanzania. These six countries are responsible for about 90% of the world’s natural diamond cutting and polishing. The entrepreneurs work in various sectors, including agriculture, education, electronics, and energy.
Nancy Orem Lyman, DDG’s executive director, expressed excitement about supporting entrepreneurs from diamond-producing communities. She highlighted that the winners represent the entrepreneurial spirit and the potential for innovative ideas to drive positive change.
