A cushion-cut fancy intense VS1 pink diamond, graded 6P for hue intensity, will be the highlight of a 416-lot online auction ending on August 11. This gem features pink as its dominant color. The auction is part of a collection from Graham Jackson, the former owner of Loloma Jewellers in Townsville, Australia, who died in May at 92.
This Argyle Pink diamond was sold during the 2021 Argyle Pink Tender, the last collection from the Argyle mine before its closure in November 2020. The Argyle mine was known for producing 90% of the world’s pink diamonds over its 37-year operation.
First State Auctions in Sydney is managing the sale, and the diamond is expected to fetch between AUD$700,000 and AUD$800,000 (US$455,000 to US$520,000). This auction follows Tiffany & Co.’s significant purchase in January, where they acquired 35 Argyle pink diamonds for their exclusive clientele.
