Jewelry designer Neda Morvillo, 57, and her husband, Christopher Morvillo, 59, were among seven people who died when the luxury superyacht Bayesian sank off the coast of Sicily on Monday, August 19.
Christopher Morvillo, a well-known attorney, and Neda, who designed fine jewelry under the name Neda Nassiri, were on the yacht to celebrate after Christopher successfully defended British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch in a major fraud case. Lynch’s family owned the yacht.
Neda Morvillo had over 20 years of experience in jewelry design, creating pieces mainly in 22k gold and pure silver. She trained with master goldsmith Cecelia Bauer and used traditional techniques in her work.
The couple leaves behind two adult daughters, Sabrina and Sophia Morvillo.
Out of the 22 people on board, 15 were rescued, including nine crew members and six passengers.
