Jeff High, founder of Gemvision, a company specializing in jewelry-design software, passed away on September 5 at the age of 60 due to cancer.
High dedicated his career to developing computer-aided design (CAD) and manufacturing (CAM) systems, as well as photography technology for the jewelry industry. He founded Gemvision in 1990, which was later acquired by Stuller, a jewelry manufacturer. In 2012, High became Stuller’s chief innovation officer.
In 2014, High and his wife, Dianna, launched Dianna Rae Jewelry, a store featuring his technology and designs. The store received the 2024 America’s Coolest Jewelry Store Award.
Stuller founder Matt Stuller praised High, saying, “Jeff and I spent countless hours discussing the future. His commitment to the industry and his passion for technology were remarkable. Jeff was always exploring new gadgets and striving for improvement. His vision and debates were driven by a belief in endless possibilities. His work at Gemvision and Stuller will leave a lasting impact on the industry.”
After selling Gemvision, High retired at 51 and focused on mentoring others. He is survived by his wife Dianna, daughters Rio and Ronni, his mother, siblings, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services and a celebration of life are scheduled for September 16 in Louisiana and September 20 in Iowa.
Stuller president Danny Clark noted, “Those who knew Jeff saw the strength and inspiration of his vision. Even while working on his latest project, Jeff was already reimagining it. His innovative spirit will be greatly missed.”
