A Chinese company is now offering lab-grown diamond machines for sale on the e-commerce platform Alibaba, with a price tag of $200,000.
The 44-ton machine operates using high pressure, high temperature (HPHT) technology, an older method compared to the more advanced chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process. This machine requires diamond seed crystals, high-quality graphite, and catalysts like iron or cobalt to initiate the growth process. It also relies on precise control of both temperature and pressure to function effectively.
Operating the HPHT press demands significant expertise to produce gem-quality diamonds, further highlighting the machine’s complexity.
The product, labeled as the “HPHT Cubic Press Synthetic Diamond Making Machine for lab grown diamond,” is manufactured by Henan Huanghe Whirlwind International. It is priced at $200,000 per unit, with discounts available for bulk orders of 10 or more, reducing the cost to $190,000 each. Shipping is not included in the price.
