Emerald Brooch Sells for Almost Three Times Its Estimated Price at Sotheby’s

An emerald brooch sold for nearly three times its estimated price, fetching CHF 132,000 ($149,849) at a recent Sotheby’s jewelry auction in Geneva.

The brooch features a 38.42-carat Colombian sugarloaf cabochon emerald, accented with princess-cut diamonds. It was part of the Important Jewels sale held from November 1 to 15, according to the auction house’s statement on Tuesday.

The event raised a total of CHF 5.5 million ($6.2 million). The auction also included pieces from renowned jewelers like Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Bulgari, along with a private collection of 19th-century archeological and renaissance revival jewels.
