The Black in Jewelry Coalition (BIJC) honored trailblazers and advocates in the jewelry industry at the 2024 Rock the Jewels Awards, at Elsie Rooftop in New York City. The annual event, which serves as both a celebration and a fundraising effort, recognized individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the industry.
The Rock the Jewels Awards is not only a recognition of excellence but also a testament to the resilience, creativity, and progress of those shaping the future of jewelry. Proceeds from the event will directly support BIJC’s mission to foster inclusive growth in the industry, funding programs like the Future Jewelers Academy. This initiative introduces high school students to jewelry design and bench work, providing a stepping stone for the next generation of diverse industry leaders.
2024 Rock the Jewels Award Recipients:
Behind the Shine Award: Anna Samsonova, Founder of Samsonova Consulting, was recognized for her behind-the-scenes efforts in advancing BIJC’s initiatives and supporting its educational programs.
Rising Star Award: Gwen Beloti, Founder of Gwen Beloti Collection, received this honor for her groundbreaking, size-inclusive gold jewelry designs that empower women to express their individuality.
Shining Together Award: Ben Bridge Jewelers was awarded for its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, exemplified by initiatives such as the Lonia Tate Scholarship, which works to drive meaningful change within the jewelry sector.

The evening also spotlighted the Future Jewelers Academy, BIJC’s flagship program aimed at creating pathways into the jewelry industry for young people. Launched in collaboration with the Brooklyn STEAM Center and supported by Jewelers Mutual, the program offers hands-on experience in jewelry making, from design to casting and gem-setting. The program has grown to include Baldwin High School, with the support of the Natural Diamond Council, providing even more opportunities for underrepresented youth.
Malyia McNaughton, BIJC Chairwoman and Founder of Made By Malyia, emphasized the significance of the event, stating, “This year’s Rock the Jewels Awards not only celebrated excellence in the jewelry industry but also underscored the importance of creating lasting impact through education and inclusion. The winners and nominees are shining examples of creativity, resilience, and a commitment to diversity. Programs like the Future Jewelers Academy allow us to invest in the next generation and ensure that the jewelry industry remains vibrant, innovative, and representative of all communities.”
The Rock the Jewels Awards continues to champion diversity in the jewelry industry, ensuring that future professionals have access to the tools and opportunities they need to succeed. Through these efforts, BIJC is shaping a more inclusive and forward-thinking jewelry landscape.
