Luxury jewelry brand Buccellati, owned by Richemont, has announced plans to significantly increase its workforce, with over 500 new hires expected across its seven workshops in the next three years. This move comes in response to the brand’s robust sales growth in recent years and its continued expansion in key global markets including Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific.
Buccellati’s production facilities are primarily based in Italy, with workshops located in the Milan, Como, and Valenza districts for jewelry production, while its silversmithing operations are based in Bologna. The company’s watchmaking workshop, however, is situated outside Italy in Chiasso, Switzerland.
As part of its expansion strategy, Buccellati will bolster its workforce by recruiting young apprentice goldsmiths, aiming to preserve the traditional craft of goldsmithing. The company highlighted that its workshops trace their origins back to the Renaissance goldsmithing traditions of Florence and Venice. Buccellati also plans to expand its workshops in Via Brisa, Milan, and Valbrona, while acquiring two new workshops in the Gioj area of the Valenza district. These new facilities will house more than 50 artisans.
The two additional workshops will be relocated to a larger facility currently under construction. A new workshop will also be built in the Como district, with a focus on the brand’s signature engraving techniques, particularly those seen in its renowned “Macri” collection. This facility is set to employ over 100 artisans.
Buccellati’s silverware production facility in Zola Predosa will undergo significant upgrades to accommodate 30 artisans and support staff. The Chiasso watchmaking workshop will also move to a larger space within the same district, allowing for the expansion of its team of over 50 watchmakers, engravers, setters, and production staff.
“We are dedicated to preserving and advancing the Italian tradition of goldsmithing and silversmithing,” said Buccellati. “Our products reflect four generations of the Buccellati family’s creative talent and the expertise passed down from one generation of artisans to the next.”
As part of its commitment to training the next generation of craftsmen, Buccellati has partnered with several Italian educational institutions. Since 2022, the company has been working with the Scuola Orafa Ambrosiana in Milan, supporting engraving courses and offering students opportunities to work in Buccellati’s workshops. The school is currently training its fifth cohort of students in its Master in Goldsmith Arts course, with many graduates going on to join Buccellati’s skilled workforce.
