The future of luxury is uncertain, but last month, Robb Report gathered top industry figures to discuss its direction.
On November 27, the Hong Kong edition of the luxury magazine hosted its inaugural Leaders of Luxury Summit at the five-star Regent Hong Kong. The event featured a series of panel discussions and talks, with experts from yachting, private aviation, watches, jewelry, and other sectors exploring the future of the luxury industry.
“Hong Kong has long been a global luxury hub, and this summit marks an important milestone in the city’s history,” said Tak Man, Publisher and CEO of Robb Report Hong Kong, during his opening address to more than 550 attendees. “Our theme, ‘Redefining Luxury Through a Global Lens,’ reflects how both Hong Kong and the luxury industry will shape and be shaped by leaders from around the world.”
The summit began with a keynote speech from Darshan Mehta, CEO and President of Reliance Brands Limited, who highlighted the growing importance of India’s luxury market. He discussed how the country’s expanding affluent population will influence the sector in the coming years.
Following the keynote, the audience attended several panel discussions. Topics included the intersection of health, AI, and longevity; the future of luxury hotels and travel; and strategies for attracting younger consumers, including Gen Z, to watch and jewelry brands.
After a networking lunch, the discussions continued with a focus on luxury brands and family offices, the appeal of auction houses and real estate developers to ultra-high-net-worth individuals, and the role of brand collaborations. “Collaborations work when brands align with partners who reflect their values,” said Camille Cheng, a Hong Kong Olympian and swimmer.
Throughout the day, industry leaders shared their insights in individual talks. Among them were Frank-Steffen Walliser, CEO of Bentley Motors; Alberto Galassi, CEO of Ferretti Group; jeweler Nadine Ghosn; Chanin Donavanik, Vice Chairman of Dusit International; and Sebastian Paredes, CEO of DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Limited.
The day concluded with a black-tie gala dinner, where attendees celebrated in style. Guests enjoyed Champagne, live music by local talent Jasmine Yen, and a gourmet menu featuring dishes like cavatelli, miso-glazed black cod, and panna cotta, all prepared by the Regent’s Michelin-starred kitchens.
The summit wrapped up with guests mingling and making new connections, closing the evening in true Robb Report fashion.
