Pokémon fans can now showcase their love for Captain Pikachu with a new jewelry release. U-Treasure, a popular jewelry brand, has unveiled a necklace inspired by the character from Pokémon Horizons: The Series. The necklace, which features a yellow-gold design, is based on Captain Pikachu, a key figure in the latest Pokémon anime, which draws inspiration from the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet games for the Nintendo Switch.
Released on December 24, 2024, the Captain Pikachu necklace comes in two versions, available for purchase worldwide through U-Treasure’s official online store. The 18K yellow gold version is priced at 132,000 yen (approximately $837 USD), while a more affordable silver 925 version with yellow gold coating is available for 16,500 yen (around $105 USD). Both versions feature a lightning bolt motif with an electrical texture on the front and an engraving of Captain Pikachu on the back. Fans can also find the necklace at the U-Treasure Concept Store in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, located in the Otomate Building.
Although Captain Pikachu is not the main character in Pokémon Horizons, the electric-type Pokémon serves as a stand-in for the original Pikachu, who traveled with Ash Ketchum for over 26 years in the series. Captain Pikachu partners with Professor Friede, the leader of the Rising Volt Tacklers, who travels the world aboard the Brave Olivine airship. Like the original Pikachu, Captain Pikachu rarely stays inside its Poké Ball. Both Pikachu and Captain Pikachu are voiced by Japanese voice actor Ikue Otani.
Earlier this year, a leaked report suggested tensions between Otani and Rica Matsumoto, the voice of Ash Ketchum (Satoshi in Japan). The leak implied that their relationship might have influenced the decision to end Ash’s long-standing role as the series’ protagonist. However, Matsumoto dismissed the rumor in an X (formerly Twitter) post, calling Otani her best friend. “Don’t worry, nothing like this has happened,” Matsumoto said. “I’ve been friends with Iku-chan since she was a newbie, and she even came as a guest on my fan club tour. For those of you who don’t know me, I wonder if you enjoy writing something like this. It’s childish and in poor taste. No one is happy about it.”
The new Captain Pikachu necklace allows fans to celebrate the iconic Pokémon in a stylish way, tying together the legacy of Pikachu with the exciting new direction of the Pokémon Horizons series.
