Sotheby’s, the renowned auction house founded in 1744, is set to make its Saudi Arabian debut with a high-profile auction of luxury goods, rare collectibles and works of art. The sale, which will take place on February 8 in the historic city of Diriyah, will feature a variety of items including rare cars, designer handbags, iconic sports memorabilia, modern art and works by Saudi Arabian artists.
Among the highlights are a Richard Miller watch, estimated at $1 million to $1.5 million, and a pair of Graff diamond earrings, estimated at $700,000 to $800,000. The Richard Miller watch is a unique prototype crafted in ultra-light titanium and designed for world champion sprinter John Blake. The Graff earrings feature two pear-shaped D-color diamonds weighing 9.39 carats and 8.46 carats respectively.
The sale will also feature fine jewellery from top brands including Cartier, Bulgari, Van Cleef & Arpels, Rolex and Audemars Piguet. Highlights include a Cartier Art Deco bracelet with sapphires and diamonds, estimated at $275,000 to $325,000, and a sapphire and diamond ring with a 19.79 carat emerald-cut Burmese sapphire, estimated at $300,000 to $400,000.
This landmark sale marks Sotheby’s first foray into the Saudi Arabian market, reflecting the region’s growing prominence in the global luxury and art sectors. Collectors and enthusiasts are expected to flock to Diriyah for this exclusive sale, which promises to be a milestone in the auction house’s storied history.
