As Los Angeles continues to battle devastating wildfires that have scorched over 40,000 acres and destroyed 12,000 homes, the global jewelry industry is rallying to support affected communities, industry members, and first responders through donations and fundraising initiatives.
The wildfires have also disrupted the jewelry industry’s event calendar. LVMH Watch Week, originally set to debut in Los Angeles, has been relocated and divided into two events: one in New York City on January 21-22 and another in Paris on January 30-31. Participating brands include TAG Heuer and Zenith.
JCK has been tracking relief efforts led by jewelry brands. Here are some of the ways the industry is contributing to wildfire recovery:
William Wood Watches
On February 1, London-based William Wood Watches will host an online auction for a custom-made Fire Exit watch, designed in red and white to mirror U.S. fire exit signs. All proceeds will benefit the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Foundation.
Founder Jonny Garrett, whose grandfather served as a firefighter for 25 years, emphasized the brand’s commitment to supporting firefighters. “We have a duty to give back to our brothers and sisters in Los Angeles who are suffering from these devastating fires,” he said. The watch, crafted from upcycled firefighter equipment, aims to raise significant funds for those in need.
Jacquie Aiche
Los Angeles lifestyle brand Jacquie Aiche is donating 100% of proceeds from two items to relief organizations. Sales of the Pavé Phoenix Rising Shaker necklace will support World Central Kitchen, which provides meals to first responders and their families, while proceeds from the Tribe Together tote will go to the California Fire Foundation.
Rembrandt Charms
New York-based Rembrandt Charms is donating all January proceeds from three California-themed charms—a California map, Los Angeles disc, and California palm tree—to relief funds established by Jewelers of America and the Retail Jewelers Organization (RJO).
“We are deeply moved by the challenges faced by individuals and families affected by the Los Angeles fires,” said Eric Lux, president of Rembrandt Charms. “As a company that celebrates life’s memories, we feel compelled to contribute to the recovery efforts.”
Adam Neeley
California-based jewelry designer Adam Neeley has launched a special capsule collection to aid wildfire relief. The six-piece collection, featuring tourmaline and garnet earrings and rings made with California-sourced gemstones, will donate all proceeds to Direct Relief, an organization assisting wildfire victims.
Neeley’s L’aqua line, inspired by water droplets, symbolizes regeneration and love. “Our hearts are breaking for our beloved Southern California,” Neeley said. “It is my hope that by sharing our California Relief Collection, we can help those whose lives have been impacted by the fires.”
The jewelry industry’s collective efforts highlight its commitment to supporting Los Angeles during this challenging time. As more initiatives emerge, JCK will continue to update its list of relief contributions.
