Christie’s, the renowned auction house, has announced Bonnie Brennan as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective February 1. Brennan will succeed Guillaume Cerutti, who has led the London-based company since 2016. Cerutti will remain as Christie’s chairman, a position he assumed in January 2024.
In his new role, Cerutti will also oversee artistic and cultural initiatives for Artémis, the holding company of Christie’s owners François Pinault and François-Henri Pinault. Additionally, he will become president of the Pinault Collection, a prestigious art collection.
Brennan brings nearly 30 years of experience in the luxury sector to her new position. She joined Christie’s in 2012 after working at its longtime competitor, Sotheby’s. Since 2021, she has served as Christie’s president of the Americas, a region responsible for 48% of the company’s auction sales, according to a recent statement.
Under Brennan’s leadership, Christie’s has focused on investing in technology and expanding its offerings. These efforts have helped attract a younger and more diverse audience, the company noted.
In a statement, Cerutti expressed his gratitude for his time as CEO, saying, “It has been a privilege and an absolute pleasure to serve as Christie’s CEO over the past eight years.” He added, “I am proud to pass the baton to Bonnie, with whom I have worked closely for many years.”
Brennan’s appointment marks a new chapter for Christie’s as it continues to adapt to a changing market and evolving audience.
