TJ Cullen Jewelers, a family-owned jewelry and antique store in Winnetka, Illinois, will close its doors for good after nearly 60 years of serving the community. The store, which has been a staple of the local retail scene, will host a five-day estate sale and going-out-of-business auction starting this Friday, February 21.
The store, which has seen several locations throughout its history, most recently in Evanston, has been closed since the passing of its owner, Tom Cullen, a few months ago.
The auction will feature a wide range of items, including fine and antique jewelry, silver, watches, clocks, and other treasured pieces collected over the years. In addition to these items, everything from display cases and jewelry repair tools to antique furniture and jewelry display racks will also be available for sale.
The auction will take place daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Tuesday, February 25, at the store’s location at 1812 Central Ave., Evanston. Admission numbers will be issued starting at 8:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
This marks the end of an era for a family business that has long been a fixture in the local community.
