Brazilian jewelry designer Fernando Jorge has unveiled his first private showroom in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood. Known for its creative vibe, Chelsea was the perfect location for Jorge, who wanted a space to complement his existing showroom in London’s Mayfair.
Jorge teamed up with Studio Mellone, a top design firm listed on Elle Decor’s A-List, to bring his vision to life. The collaboration follows their previous project together, a pop-up space at Bergdorf Goodman in 2022. “The goal was to create a physical home for our collections that truly reflected the brand,” Jorge explained. “Andre, the lead designer, shares my passion for Brazilian design and mid-century modernism, which pairs beautifully with my jewelry’s feminine and delicate style.”
Jorge, who moved to London in his twenties to study jewelry design at Central Saint Martins, launched his own brand in 2011. Over the years, his designs have become known for their relaxed yet sophisticated style, like the “Stream” earrings recently worn by Brazilian Oscar nominee Fernanda Torres on the red carpet.
The New York showroom captures the essence of Jorge’s brand with a signature mix of mahogany wood and green suede accents. The green color, in particular, has a personal meaning for Jorge. “I was inspired by the interior of an old safe in my London showroom,” he said. “Its shade of green became part of our visual identity and influenced our packaging design.”
Studio Mellone, led by Andre Mellone, helped bring Jorge’s vision to life, blending elements from his London showroom with new touches for the New York space. “We wanted the showroom to feel warm and welcoming, with a neutral backdrop that lets the jewelry stand out,” said Mellone. The design includes dark wood tones, sisal rugs, and mustard-colored textiles, along with select pieces by Brazilian designer Juliana Vasconcellos. The space also features artwork from Mendes Wood, including works by Daniel Steegmann Mangrané and Paulo Monteiro, as well as paper floral installations by Sourabh Gupta.
The result is a space that Jorge describes as “welcoming” and designed for conversation and exploration. “We want our clients and friends to fully immerse themselves in the experience,” he said. “This showroom is a place where they can truly engage with the brand.”
