Zachary’s Jewelers has announced the opening of its 14th annual Mother’s Day Jewelry Design Contest, inviting local fifth graders to participate in a unique opportunity to create custom jewelry for their mothers or caregivers.
Young artists are encouraged to submit a colorful jewelry design on standard-sized paper, accompanied by a short story explaining the inspiration behind their creation. The contest is open to all area fifth graders, and entries must be submitted through the official website by March 31.
A panel of judges will review the submissions and select a group of semifinalists. These students will be invited to a special brunch reception at Zachary’s Jewelers, located at 100 Main Street in downtown Annapolis, on the eve of Mother’s Day. At the event, three winners will be announced, and their designs will be transformed into real, custom-made jewelry pieces, presented as gifts to their mothers or caregivers.
“The annual Mother’s Day Jewelry Design Contest is very special to us,” said Steve Samaras, owner of Zachary’s Jewelers. “It is always incredible to see the imagination and talent of local fifth graders. The best moment of the competition is when we reveal the finished jewelry to the young artists and their moms. It’s a heartwarming exchange that never fails to bring joy.”
Constance Polamalu, Chief Operating Officer of Zachary’s Jewelers, shared her enthusiasm for the contest. “Every great designer starts as a young person with a creative mind and a determined spirit. Looking through these entries reminds me of my own childhood sketchbooks. One day, one of these young designers might create jewelry that graces the red carpet. When that happens, we will proudly say, ‘We knew them when they were in fifth grade, and we know their mom will be proud!’”
The contest continues to celebrate creativity, family, and the artistry of jewelry design, giving young students a chance to express their love and appreciation in a truly meaningful way.
