Korman Fine Jewelry, a well-established, family-owned jeweler in Austin for over 50 years, is expanding with a new store that will double its current size.
The new location, situated in the Pemberton Heights neighborhood, will occupy the former site of University Cyclery, a local bike shop that closed in 2017. The 11,000-square-foot space is being transformed into a modern yet timeless jewelry store by Austin-based Michael Hsu Office of Architecture (MHOA).
The design of the new store draws inspiration from the upscale homes and lush greenery of the Pemberton Heights area, with the aim of creating a welcoming environment for all occasions. Korman Fine Jewelry’s “Celebrate Every Day” ethos will be reflected throughout, with the store designed as a space to honor both special and everyday moments.
“MHOA worked closely with Korman to craft a social hub for jewelry and timepieces, incorporating moments of hospitality and multiple VIP reception rooms to create an inviting atmosphere,” said the jeweler.
The exterior of the store is defined by three large heritage oak trees, offering scenic views of Shoal Creek. Inside, the layout is designed to connect visitors with nature, showcasing the beauty of the surrounding landscape.
“Every material and detail has been carefully selected to provide a bespoke shopping experience, ensuring the comfort and expectations of our clients,” said Michael Hsu, Principal at MHOA.
Upon entering through a custom travertine and brass entryway, customers will find a “warm and sophisticated” ambiance. A standout feature is a grand staircase with a custom walnut rail and brass accents. The space also includes dimensional mosaic tile, which mirrors the complexity of Korman’s jewelry and timepieces.
The store’s watch area features skylights that flood the space with natural light, highlighting the craftsmanship of brands like Rolex, Tudor, Blancpain, Omega, Grand Seiko, Breitling, and Ressence.
Korman Fine Jewelry will showcase Rolex on all three levels of the new store. The main floor will feature a 1,600-square-foot, walk-in Rolex experience with green marble and travertine. The top floor will house a Rolex Certified Pre-Owned boutique, while the lower level will feature a Rolex Service Center where customers can watch master watchmakers at work.
Additional amenities include VIP lounges, a bar on the upper floor, and dedicated parking spaces outside.
The new store is set to open this summer, continuing Korman Fine Jewelry’s legacy of exceptional service and high-quality products. Founded in 1973 by Russell “Rusty” Korman, the business was passed down to current owners Larry and Kat Stokes after the Korman family’s retirement in 2018.
Korman Fine Jewelry’s new location is a reflection of the company’s enduring commitment to its Austin roots and its dedication to superior customer care.
