LVMH has named Jean-Christophe Babin as the new CEO of its watches division, the company announced on Friday. Babin, a seasoned executive in the luxury watches and jewelry sector, will succeed Frédéric Arnault.
This leadership change comes amid a broader reshuffle within LVMH’s top management. The transition reflects the growing influence of Bernard Arnault’s five children, who are gradually taking on key roles within the luxury conglomerate. Frédéric Arnault, previously in charge of the watches division, has been appointed to lead Loro Piana, an Italian cashmere brand experiencing rapid growth.
LVMH’s watches division has faced challenges due to weakening consumer demand. Inflation has put pressure on shoppers, leading to a decline in high-end purchases. As a result, sales in the group’s watches and jewelry segment dropped by 2% last year.
Babin brings extensive experience to his new role. He has led LVMH’s Italian jewelry brand Bulgari for the past 12 years. Before that, he spent another 12 years heading the Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer. Despite taking on his new responsibilities, Babin will continue as CEO of Bulgari. His new position will be effective from April 1.
