PDPaola unveiled its latest fine jewelry collection at a star-studded event on April 4 in New York City. The event featured actress Kelly Rutherford, who is the brand’s new ambassador for a capsule collection made from 18k gold and lab-grown diamonds.
Rutherford’s elegant and sophisticated presence was the perfect match for the brand, according to Paola Sasplugas, cofounder and creative director of the Barcelona-based jewelry company.
“We’ve admired Kelly Rutherford for a long time for her authenticity and grace, both on and off screen,” Sasplugas said. “She embodies the timeless values we want this collection to represent. It felt like the right time to collaborate with someone who could bring these values to a global audience.”
Sasplugas described the Rutherford capsule collection as marking a new chapter for PDPaola. The actress’ style, spirit, and confidence reflect the core qualities of the brand’s fine jewelry: refined, powerful, and enduring.
“This collection is about subtlety and movement, which we’re calling fluid elegance,” Sasplugas explained. “It’s represented through sculptural curves, flowing silhouettes, and our unique half-bezel setting that creates the illusion of floating diamonds.”
Through this new collection, PDPaola aims to tell a more poetic and elevated story through its jewelry.
“It felt like a natural progression,” Sasplugas said. “Our community has grown with us, and we saw a desire for something that blends our modern style with the timeless beauty of fine materials. This collection is about creating heirlooms for the new generation—pieces that are personal, wearable, and meaningful.”
Sasplugas also emphasized the importance of lab-grown diamonds in the collection. “Lab-grown diamonds align with our values—innovation, responsibility, and a forward-thinking approach. They offer the same brilliance and durability as mined diamonds while allowing us the creative freedom to explore new designs, such as movement and light.”
The event, held at PDPaola’s West Village store in Manhattan, gave guests the chance to try on the new jewelry, view marketing visuals featuring Rutherford, and enjoy a swan-shaped cake created by food artist Laila Gohar. The advertising campaign includes a portrait of Rutherford styled as a queen, a nod to her iconic role on Gossip Girl, and a swan to symbolize the grace of the collection.
Looking ahead, PDPaola plans to expand its retail presence in 2025. Sasplugas reflected on the company’s journey so far, noting how the brand has evolved from a personal creative project to a global name.
“PDPaola started as a small creative endeavor, and it has grown into a global brand without losing its sense of intimacy and purpose,” Sasplugas said. “Each collection is a chapter in our story—rooted in emotion, inspired by real people, and designed to feel like an extension of self.”
