Mari Lou’s Fine Jewelry, a longtime fixture in Orland Park, will close its doors after more than four decades in business. The closure follows the loss of the store’s lease, the company announced this week.
The jewelry store, located at 14225 S. 95th Ave. in Orland Park Crossing, has launched a closing sale. All items—including gold, diamonds, engagement rings, and gemstones—are being sold at a 70 percent discount.
Mari Lou McCann founded the business in 1979. It grew into a family-run operation when her daughter Diana Butcher and son Donald joined her in the early 1990s at Lakeview Plaza. In 2015, Butcher became the second-generation owner and helped design the current storefront in Orland Park Crossing.
The store became known for personalized service and its wide selection of diamonds and gemstone jewelry. It also specialized in custom designs.
“It has been an incredible honor to serve our clients—from special events to meaningful milestones,” Butcher said. “We are deeply grateful for the relationships we’ve built and for the trust our clients have placed in us.”
Beyond its retail success, the business has also been active in the community. Over the years, Mari Lou’s has supported several local organizations, including the Crisis Center for South Suburbia, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, My Joyful Heart, South Suburban Family Shelter, and Together We Cope.
Butcher said the team is exploring new ways to serve customers. “We remain optimistic about the future,” she said. “Our goal is to continue supporting our clients in innovative and meaningful ways.”
The closing sale is ongoing. Store hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The store is closed on Sundays. Mari Lou’s Fine Jewelry will officially close in early May.
