Kluna, a handcrafted jewelry brand from Japan, has made its mark in the United Arab Emirates. The brand was founded by Kyoko Halim, a Japanese designer now living in Dubai, who turned her dream of creating jewelry into reality.
Halim moved to the UAE last year and worked as a cabin crew member. She quickly noticed something special about the country. âEveryone here is kind, friendly, and hardworking,â she said. âPeople are proud of their culture and country, which is amazing.â
Speaking exclusively to Arab News Japan, Halim shared the journey behind launching her brand. âI started Kluna in 2019. My concept is simple and classy,â she said. âI design mindful jewelry that tells a story of love and passion.â
Her pieces mainly feature pure Japanese pearls. These pearls, known as âMoon Dropsâ in Japan, are seen as natural gems formed by rare and beautiful chance. Halim believes this uniqueness adds deep value to each item.
âThe women in the UAE have inspired me a lot,â she said. âI hope my jewelry brings beauty and happiness to women, especially here in the UAE. I want it to be something meaningful in their lives.â
So far, the response to Kluna has been positive. âMany customers tell me they love the jewelry because itâs handmade and uses high-quality pearls,â Halim said. âI think the mix of these stunning pearls and my Japanese touch makes each piece elegant and classy.â
Halim also draws inspiration from Japanese culture. She values ideas like social harmony and the beauty found in imperfection. Looking ahead, she hopes to expand Kluna through collaborations with fashion brands. âI would love to work with clothing and beachwear labels in the future,â she added.
Kluna continues to grow as a symbol of thoughtful design, cultural beauty, and timeless eleganceâconnecting Japanâs traditions with the vibrant spirit of the UAE.
