Dior is celebrating ten years of its Rose des Vents jewelry collection by releasing new pieces that expand on the house’s signature style.
The collection takes inspiration from Les Rhumbs, the childhood home of Christian Dior. This villa, located on the cliffs of Normandy, is named after a nautical term that refers to the 32 directions on a compass rose. At the entrance of the home, a mosaic wind rose served as the main inspiration for the collection’s iconic medallion design.
Victoire de Castellane, the Artistic Director of Dior Joaillerie, created the original Rose des Vents medallion with this symbol in mind. Each medallion is bordered in rice-grain gold that looks like a sailor’s rope. In the center, it features an eight-pointed gold star — a nod to Dior’s favorite number — set with diamonds or colorful gemstones like opal, onyx, and malachite.
To mark the collection’s tenth anniversary, Dior has added a variety of new designs. These include ear cuffs, brooches, and necklaces. The new pieces continue the collection’s tradition of blending elegant materials with meaningful symbols. They also incorporate some of Dior’s other cherished motifs, such as moons, stars, flowers, and bees.
The updated Rose des Vents collection continues to honor Dior’s heritage, blending timeless design with a sense of wonder and discovery.
