Suspect Linked to Kohl’s Department Store Theft Arrested in Seal Beach

Seal Beach, California – A significant breakthrough has been made in the investigation of a theft that occurred at Kohl’s department store in Seal Beach on August 31, as police have apprehended one of the suspects believed to be involved.

The Seal Beach Police Department announced the arrest of 30-year-old Brandon Libardo Bustos-Bermudez, a Riverside resident, on Friday. His apprehension occurred in connection with a separate robbery at a Kohl’s store in Chino.

The incident unfolded when officers responded to the Kohl’s store, situated in the 4000 block of Grand Avenue, around 4:30 p.m., prompted by a report from a store loss prevention officer who had observed several individuals behaving suspiciously. Subsequently, four individuals were detained on suspicion of suspicious activity.

Crucially, the store’s loss prevention officer later informed investigators that they had recognized one of the suspects from a “Be On the Look Out” advisory circulated to stores across Southern California, specifically related to the burglary that transpired on August 31 in Seal Beach.

Following his arrest, Bustos-Bermudez was transported to the Orange County Jail, where he was formally booked on charges of burglary, grand theft, and conspiracy to commit a crime.

According to the Seal Beach Police Department, Bustos-Bermudez confessed to his involvement in the commercial burglary that took place in Seal Beach on August 31. He further acknowledged that he was one of the individuals captured on the surveillance footage from the Kohl’s store in Seal Beach during the commission of the crime.

During the initial theft incident on August 31, which occurred at the Kohl’s store located at 12345 Seal Beach Boulevard, security cameras recorded the burglary in progress. Three male suspects were reported to have stolen an estimated $73,877 worth of gold jewelry during the theft.

As of now, there is no available information regarding the identities or statuses of the other two individuals believed to be connected to the initial burglary. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work diligently to bring all those responsible to justice.
