GENEVA — Christie’s auction house witnessed a historic moment as the largest fancy vivid blue diamond ever to be offered at auction, the “Bleu Royal,” exceeded all expectations by selling for more than $44 million. This remarkable ring featured a 17.61-carat fancy vivid blue pear-shaped diamond, making it a standout piece during Geneva’s Luxury Week.
Christie’s had initially estimated the ring’s value to be around $35 million, but the bidding surpassed this figure, solidifying its place as the most expensive jewel sold at auction this year.
A remarkable aspect of this sale is that the “Bleu Royal” diamond will now find its way into a private collection after spending four decades in relative obscurity. This event has rekindled the allure of rare and exquisite gemstones, marking a significant moment in the world of high-end jewelry auctions.
